Press Release – California Automotive Business Coalition (CalABC)

The California Automotive Business Coalition Board of Directors is pleased to announce some exciting changes within the organization’s Executive Board of Directors that became effective September 1, 2020.

Jim Fogelquist is the newly elected President for CalABC who moved up from Vice President and will replace Bud Rice whose term ended. Jim has been a board member with CalABC since 2014 when he replaced Johan Gallo became the Executive Director of CalABC in February 2015. Jim has 35 years’ experience in retail,  with 32 of those in automotive retail. Jim has held various positions with Bridgestone in their retail division from Store Manager, District Manager, Operations Manager to So CA Area Region Manager, and is currently the West Division Operations Director for Bridgestone Retail Operations and BAR Liaison for the company.

 

Kyle Fowler was elected to become CalABC’s newest Vice President and has served on the Board of Directors since 2017 in various capacities. Kyle replaces Vice President Jim Fogelquist, now the President for CalABC.

Kyle Fowler is CEO of Broadbase, Inc. in West Sacramento. Broadbase owns and operates 36 Jiffy Lube service centers throughout Northern California. Kyle has been in the auto maintenance industry for over 18 yrs. Kyle worked in a variety of roles including IT Director and Head of Training.  His team developed the first hire training programs in the Jiffy Lube system and is an innovator for brand developing in-house technician training programs. The Company expanded its service offering to include full-service auto repair and tire service in 2014.

Nikki Ayers’ was elected to serve a second term as Treasurer effective September 1, 2020. Nikki has been with CalABC since 2007 and held various positions from President, Vice President to her current renewed position as Treasurer. Nikki Ayers and her husband Robert have been shop owners and own automotive repair shops in Santa Barbara, CA. Nikki is the Executive Director of IAPA (Independent Aftermarket Professional’s Association) She sits on the BAR Advisory Board and is continually active in the automotive repair industry.

Charlie Ayers’ was elected to serve a second term as Secretary effective September 1, 2020. Charlie has been with CalABC since 2016 and was on the Board of Directors before being elected to Secretary in 2018. Charlie has been in the automotive repair industry for over 40 years and was formerly with Midas Corporation as their Manager of Governmental Affairs. He is the Chairman Emeritus of the Motorist Assurance Program (MAP) and is a former arbitrator with the Chicago Better Business Bureau. Currently, he is the President of the Coordinating Committee for Automotive Repair (CCAR).

Bud Rice becomes the immediate Past President of the Coalition effective September 1, 2020. Bud has been the President of CalABC for 2 terms, was the treasurer and on the Board of Directors since joining in 2007. Bud is President of Side B Corporation for the Quality Tune-Up Shops. He was a Governor’s Appointee to the IMRC for the Smog Check Program. 

Johan Gallo continues as the Executive Director, managing the daily operations of CalABC and work with its members to address key issues impacting our industry. Johan was a founding member and worked with CalABC in various capacities throughout his term with CalABC, serving multiple terms as President. Johan was the Manager of Governmental Affairs & Human Resources for Bridgestone Retail Operations for 31 years and their BAR Liaison since 1985.

The Board of Directors is extremely excited about these changes and feels that it will enable the Coalition the proper support to work on the issues that are key to our membership.
